Premature ejaculation (PE) is a common sexual concern in which a man ejaculates sooner than desired during sexual activity, often with minimal stimulation. The condition can be classified as lifelong, where it has been present since the start of sexual activity, or acquired, developing later in life due to psychological or physical factors. Common triggers include stress, relationship issues, performance anxiety, or a history of negative sexual experiences. Physical factors such as hormonal imbalances, inflammation, or heightened sensitivity may also play a role.

Emotional and psychological factors are often central to premature ejaculation. Worrying about performance or focusing too much on control can increase tension, which shortens the duration of intercourse. In many cases, a cycle develops where anxiety causes early ejaculation, leading to more anxiety and repeated episodes.
